Hi Lisaw,
Too cloudy here too ... when it isn't snowing it's raining or just cloudy ... last time it was relatively clear was about a week ago and too early for Comet Lulin to be up yet ..
Unless you are an experienced sky-watcher and have dark, country skies (I'd say at least 20 miles away from city lights), this comet is going to be a non-event for most people. City dwellers will not be able to see it at all ... not even out in the suburbs. It is only magnitude 5.0 ... which is right on the edge of naked eye visibility. Any dimmer and you wouldn't see it with your eyes under the best of circumstances without at least binoculars. Those reporting seeing it with the naked eye describe it as a very faint green, hazy smudge near Saturn (that is the best place to look for it now, around 9 PM EST and after).
Lulin is NOT a major comet, but for those with the right dark country sky conditions who have clear skies as well, it may be a tiny treat. Of course, as with any comet that is barely visible or even invisible it's magnitude is so dim, if it undergoes an "outburst" it could still end up being ranked up there with comets like McNaught, Holmes, Hale-Bopp, or Hyakutake. The unexpected can always happen.
